One thing, most peanut butter brands are safe, others can be deadly for dogs. Some manufacturers use a sugar substitute called xylitol. It’s toxic to dogs, causing a rapid release of insulin resulting in a profound decrease in blood sugar and, left untreated can result in hypoglycemia and can be life threatening to your dog.(1) Avoid this and stick with unsalted, organic peanut butter or make your own like we do.

Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

Peanut butter dog Biscuits, I never met a dog that didn’t love peanut butter, this biscuit recipe is organic, healthy, tasty and a sure hit with your pet pooch.

We recently made dog biscuits for some of our friends and relatives dogs and right away we started getting calls from those dog’s owners as their biscuit stash ran dry. Everybody wanted the same thing, more dog treats or the recipe.

Me, I’ve only had one dog in my life, a chow. I was small, he was large and I named him Number 1 Son. He took great joy in tearing the protective covers off my father’s tomato plants.  Later there was Tazmo, a dachshund who came into my life with his master, my new stepfather. This dog liked to bite and would sleep; nose down in the ground and bark. The single most disturbed animal I’ve ever met.

Eventually, Taz took a Grey Hound for a spin, had a fine litter of six, relocated to the Catskills with his new bride Chava where they both got summer jobs handling the canoe rental at Saperstein’s Resort in the Borscht Belt, whom I’ve been told were pioneers of the all inclusive vacation – plus the knish is to die for.

Dogs dig peanut butter every bit as much as you do and this recipe produces a dog treat filled with peanut butter, whole grain spelt, rolled oats, eggs and water. Add parsley for breath and you’ve got a great treat your pet pooch will scarf down faster than Ted “Theodore” Logan can say, “Whoa.”
